Under the direction of the pharmacist, the laboratory clerk processes prescriptions, operates the computer and cash register, answers the telephone and provides good customer service. The laboratory clerk always refers customers needing advice to the duty pharmacist and leaves all file checking duties to the pharmacist. The clerk verifies, labels and shelves merchandise in the dispensary and adjacent sections.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Greets customers with a smile in accordance with the customer service standards and takes their prescriptions.
Speaks politely and respectfully to customers, especially the elderly.
Obtains all the necessary information in order to complete the customer file.
Deals with customers in a discrete and confidential manner.
Refers all situations that require it to the pharmacist.
Avoids long conversations so that customers will not be left waiting at the counter.
Receives suggestions from the customers and communicates them to his superior.
Applies the “personal approach” method in OTC.
Receives, screens, sends and takes telephone messages, forwards calls to the appropriate departments and records prescription numbers and other information on prescriptions to be picked up or delivered.
Merchandise Management and Shelving:
Checks and removes outdated products from displays following the established procedure.
Enters products to be ordered on the order list.
Verifies incoming orders and compares received merchandise against bills or packing lists.
Assists in the stocking and maintenance of the OTC sections.
Under the pharmacist’s supervision, makes entries in the narcotics purchase register.
Monitors products to be followed up for customers every day.
– Regularly deposits money in the safe.
Labels merchandise, places it on shelves and performs rotation.
Regularly cleans shelves and merchandise.
Fills vials and jars, bags and receipts, bottles and patient information sheets.
– Redoes OTC display facings in front of the dispensary so that all merchandise is flush at the front of the shelves.
Fills gaps in displays by modifying facings and returns products to their original position when low stock merchandise is received, except in stores using optical scanners because this could cause customer error.
Makes price changes prescribed by suppliers and/or the head office.
Completes delivery orders.
Performs other duties requested by the management.
