We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join Charles Ghadban Accounting firm in Ottawa. If you are a motivated individual, and are looking for a work environment that fosters growth and development of its employees, we have an opening for a full-cycle bookkeeper.

Must have:

  • Strong customer service skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Accounting or Bookkeeping.
  • Certified Professional Bookkeeper or working towards certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Full Cycle Bookkeeping.
  • Public practice firm experience in a CPA firm.
  • Working knowledge of TaxPrep, Quickbooks, Sage (Formerly Simply Accounting), Word and Excel, and be highly computer literate.
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and accounting matters.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to fine detail required.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • An exceptional ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks at a time.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven work setting and take on more responsibilities over time.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently.


  • Certified Payroll Professional or working towards certification.
  • Previous experience with Time & Billing Software.
  • Previous experience with CRM Software.


  • Execution of full cycle bookkeeping for clients.
  • Preparation of T1s, T3s, T4s, T5s, ROEs, Payroll tax remittances and GST/HST returns.
  • Correspond with Canada Revenue Agency, WSIB and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure all financial reporting and government filling deadlines are met.
  • Production, review, and comment of period end financial statements.
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, and discuss with managers to resolve.
  • Frequent communication and occasional meetings with clients, to review statements, respond to questions, concerns, and requests.
  • Preparation of year-end packages for accountants, i.e. preparing A/R, A/P reports, trial balance, adjusting entries, reconciling accounts.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records.
  • Be alert, quick and responsive with attention to detail.
  • Perform with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Be willing and able to work flexible hours (when required).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
