Summary of responsibilities
Various positions within various departments/units are available.
The caregiver works under the direct or indirect supervision of an assigned RN or LPN while applying the knowledge and skills acquired during her university studies in nursing in order to be able to assume the following responsibilities:
• Take charge of a stable patient with foreseeable health conditions
• Administer all the care required, including but not limited to: assessment of physical condition, administration of medication, administration of blood products, etc.
• Make preparations for diagnostic examinations
• Performing controlled acts after being delegated to it
• Provide assistance to patients during activities of daily living by optimizing the patient’s autonomy according to their tolerance.
• Document the care provided according to the assignment and according to the documentation method adopted by the hospital for this category of employees.
• Communicate to the appropriate resources any information specific to the assigned activities concerning the patient, any changes observed in the patient’s condition, as well as the results and/or incidences of unusual care
Other tasks:
• Initiate and maintain open, clear and timely communication with members of the interprofessional team.
• Participate in orientation, integration, training and information sessions of the hospital and the assigned care sector, as well as meetings/unit meetings.
• Follow universal precautions and all hospital infection control practices.
• Observing and/or providing appropriate assistance to emergency codes depending on the circumstances.
• Report to the appropriate personnel the breakage or malfunction of equipment and/or situations that could compromise the safety of patients, families/visitors and staff.
• Ensure that the necessary measures are used to ensure the safety of patients, families/visitors and staff at all times.
Requirements profile
• Have successfully completed their baccalaureate studies in nursing in an accredited nursing program, or be a 4th year student in this program (proof of current registration will be required).
• Valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate;
• Excellent verbal communication skills in both official languages.
