Duties:
The Service d’aide à domicile pour jeunes autistes (SADJA) is a personalized respite and support service, with home travel, for adolescents and young adults with an intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families, in the Francophone community of Ottawa, Ontario who reside in the Orléans area and surrounding areas.
Description
The educator goes to the family’s home for a block of 3 hours minimum according to the choice selected when booking. This assistance service for young people with an intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a personalized respite and support service, in order to accompany parents for family support, the goal being to maintain and promote the autonomy and development of their young person’s social life, communication and to allow families to have a respite while their child will be accompanied for activities in our community or inside their home and always in collaboration with the family. The parent may be present or absent.

Respite at home
The special educator goes to the family’s home for a block of 3 hours of short-term service, recreational activities, board games, drawing, educational games, painting, puzzles, etc. Up to a maximum of 8 hours. The educator accompanies the young person during respite in their routine in addition to offering them various activities adapted to their development and interests. The reservation is online with several service options.
Respite in accompaniment
The special educator accompanies the young person in a specific activity; whether it is going for a walk in places in the community, seeing a movie at the cinema, going to the park, the educator makes sure to meet the needs of the young person. This service is offered as a three-hour block and can be requested by parents for overtime.
Our services
Short-term service – 3h00 block*
Home respite service:
recreational activities, board games, drawing, educational games, painting, puzzles, etc.
Service for the development of social life, autonomy and communication: outings and outdoor activities in public places and/or in the community (shopping centre, shop, restaurant, workshop or group activities, fair, etc.)
Accompaniment service: accompaniment for walks and walking in places in the community (library, cinema, park, etc.)
Help service: help with a task (grocery or other) as needed
Long Term Service – 8:00 Block
Day and/or evening respite service including weekends according to the requested hours (minimum of 8 hours)Weekend service with overnight option at home
according to the requested hours, Fridays and Saturdays only (minimum of 8 hours)

Competency profile:

Requirement(S):
Knowledge and skills to work with youth with developmental disabilities
Relevant experience would be an asset or have completed a related program
Have a good physical capacity
