JOB DESCRIPTION: Kitchen Assistant

Purpose of the position

Reporting directly to the Chef, the Kitchen Helper assists the Chef in the preparation of meals and daily tasks as required and requested.

The Kitchen Helper assists in the receiving and storage of merchandise, participates in the cleaning of equipment, counters, preparation areas and refrigerators. He/she must perform all other tasks related to this position, while applying health and safety rules.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Basic kitchen training and experience in a food service team is desirable but not required
  • Experience in the kitchen is an asset
  • Punctual, courteous and well presented
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Initiative, attention to detail and diligence
  • Able to work under pressure, fast and autonomous
  • Available to perform various tasks
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety principles
  • Special working conditions
  • Exposure to cleaning products and other chemicals
  • Physical work, lifting heavy trays
  • Work flexible hours
  • Ability to work long hours on your feet
  • May work under pressure during peak hours

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Kitchen Assistant in the preparation of meals

1.1 Performs basic preparations under the supervision of the cook in charge
1.2 Make the set-up, while respecting the portions, standards and recipes established by the company;
1.3 Prepare the cooking of dishes
1.4 Prepare dishes for the Clubhouse fast food menu
1.5 Assist in the assembly of dishes and plates
1.6 Scrub dishes, fill dishwasher, wash dishes
1.7 Handle food, place leftovers in containers and store food for safekeeping
1.8 Unpack and store groceries in refrigerators, cupboards, pantries and other storage areas
1.9 Collaborates or performs various tasks as supervised by the cook
1.10 In the absence of supervisor, directs and supervises kitchen activities

2. Participates in the cleaning of the kitchen

2.1 Ensures that hygiene and safety rules are applied
2.2 Cleans workstations, preparation areas, storage areas
cupboards and accessories
2.3 Keep workstation and refrigerators clean at all times
2.4 Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary condition
2.5 Perform the filling and cleaning of refrigerators
2.6 Be responsible for the return of food from the dining room to the kitchen
2.7 At the end of his/her shift, complete the necessary list of foodstuffs to be
for the next day
2.8 Sweep and wash floors
2.9 Wash dishcloths
2.10 Remove garbage
2.11 Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
2.12 Additional responsibilities may be assigned on a daily basis
2.13 Respect discipline
